Nadine Helena Bakas

Mother to amazing 30-year-old twins. My son Evan was diagnosed with ASD just before turning 5. He is a kind and genuine young man with a great sense of humour and many friends. He has worked at Kootenay Coop for the last 15 years and loves his job. Also, is a 5th degree black belt Master in taekwondo, teaching and training since he was 10 at KMA. My beautiful daughter Hannah lives in Kelowna and works with high risk youth and children with ASD. She is an incredible support to her twin brother.

I have been a strong advocate for my son, learning how to navigate the ins and outs of services and resources for him and so I frequently connect with parents on social media groups to support and help where I can. I have a background in motivational speaking, augmentative communication, health and wellness , and was the closing keynote speaker at the IASE Millenial Conference in Vancouver. I was also included on the panel as the parent representative for two Autism conferences in the East and West Kootenays.

I am very excited to be part of the Diverse Family Roots and look forward to meeting and connecting with you all on your unique and beautiful journey.
