Who we are

Diverse Family Roots Society (DFRS – established 2023) is a non-profit society based in the Kootenays.

What we do

DFRS exists to promote peer-to-peer mentoring, family connections, family support, connection to resources, advocacy, and family navigation of services.

Welcome.

In the Fall of 2023 Diverse Family Roots was created out of need. Families in the Kootenays felt disconnected, unsupported, unheard and isolated. 

While I am enjoying camping, kayaking, skiing, visiting with grandchildren and everything that the kootenays has to offer , I am working alongside some amazing Volunteer Family Stewards that are not only supporting and advocating for their own families but they are supporting families so that they feel connected, feel supported, feel included and let them know that they are not alone.

Diverse Family Roots is all about Families.

Together, we empower one another to find solutions to our unique challenges. Reach out, lean in.
