Rossland

Genevieve Fortin

I relocated to Rossland 17 years ago from Banff with the goal of embracing a slower pace of life and focusing on raising my two wonderful daughters. My eldest has been a great teacher, guiding me to become an effective advocate and helping me achieve a more balanced daily life. Together, we’ve faced challenges such as metabolic issues, navigating an autism diagnosis and securing funding, understanding genetic variations, scoliosis and spine fusion,  managing sleep deprivation, and much more.

My journey has been enriched by my studies in Public Health at the University of Victoria, where I’ve explored the impact of individuals with diverse abilities on their support networks. Through personal experience, I’ve also witnessed how connections with other parents facing similar challenges can significantly enhance our ability to advocate effectively for our children’s needs.

I firmly believe in the power of asking ourselves thoughtful questions to uncover the support that truly benefits us.
